Research on the practices of reconstruction after destruction: Germany

Our analysts continue to study the practices of countries around the world that have recovered from destruction. Germany became the fifth country in the study.

The defeat in World War II divided Germany into 4 occupation zones controlled by four different states. Unemployment and inflation consumed the country, but economics professor Ludwig Ehrhardt managed to create the German economic miracle. He was able to successfully put his ideas into practice in the face of the American administration’s control and the spread of the ideas of a planned economy.
