Customs Reform in the European Context: Current Achievements and Plans

On 31 January, 12:00-13:30, the NGO “Institute of Analytics and Advocacy” in partnership with the NGO “Technologies of Progress” invites you to a public event “Customs reform in the European context: current achievements and plans”. 

The meeting will be a platform for discussing the achievements, challenges and opportunities of customs reform, in particular in the context of filling the state budget, facilitating international trade and combating smuggling.

As part of the presentation of the ACCORD project results, the Institute for Analysis and Advocacy will present an assessment of the effectiveness of mechanisms for coordinating the implementation of customs reform through dialogue with business and civil society, and Progress Technologies will present a KPI system for customs authorities. 

Topics for discussion with the involved experts: 

  • Customs reform in the context of the adoption of Law 6490-d, strengthening civil society oversight, the need to fill the state budget, facilitate international trade and fight smuggling.
  • An overview of the practical issues of implementing Law No. 6490-d on the peculiarities of service and certification of customs officials, a plan with potential KPIs for the ‘first 100 days’ for the newly elected Head of the State Customs Service.
  • Review of the results of the law on criminalisation.
