During the 1991-1995 war, Croatia faced similar challenges to Ukraine – an undeclared war, separatism, the loss of part of its state territory, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and genocide.
Despite all the obstacles, the Republic of Croatia was able to achieve its key foreign policy goals, namely, joining NATO and the EU.
