Research on the practices of reconstruction after destruction: South Korea, the USA, China, Iran, Germany, Japan

Mariia Mygal

IAA analysts have already studied seven countries that have suffered destruction for various reasons. We select effective practices that can be used in Ukraine in the post-war period to accelerate reconstruction and stabilise development.

The top seven:

📌 South Korea, which, having suffered significant destruction during the three-year war, managed to recover and become an “Asian tiger” with a powerful economy;

📌 The United States of America and the recovery of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina;

📌 The People’s Republic of China and the authorities’ reasonable actions to overcome the consequences of the devastating earthquake;

📌 Iran, which has not yet been able to recover from the consequences of the war with Iraq

📌 Germany and the German economic miracle

📌 Japan, which after the World War II lost more than 25% of its national wealth, but later became a country with one of the most powerful economies

📌 Iran (special material), and its thousands of sanctions that seem to be in place for a long time
