Finland’s geographical close location to the russian empire and then to the USSR forced the country to survive three wars during the twentieth century and lose some of its land.

Today, Finland is a highly developed country with an innovative economy and a high standard of living. The country is a member of many international organisations and, despite several decades of neutrality, is now close to joining NATO.
