Research on the practices of reconstruction after destruction: China

Mariia Mygal

The IAA team has launched a project where our analysts collect data on the practices of countries recovering from destruction. Subsequently, these cases can be used in Ukraine in the post-war period to accelerate reconstruction and stabilize development.

The third country in the study is the People’s Republic of China. In 2008, this country suffered a devastating earthquake that destroyed 3.5 million buildings and caused losses of about USD 150 billion. However, thanks to the actions taken by the authorities to overcome the consequences of the earthquake, China was able to recover quickly.

Read about how this happened and what useful recovery practices are available for Ukraine in our article
